You might say 6 months too late and the hype around this has died, and you're probably right. I personally still rate the tune, maybe mainly because the Sukh Knight instrumental behind it is bloody bonkers! (which is avaliable on the single...).
An album project called 'Miles Away' has been made available for 'whatever you want to pay' quite a weird concept but it's available nonetheless. The interview with Jus Wan on Sonic Router can be read here, I'm sure that will explain all.
I am so looking forward to this Hyperdub release, anywhere I've heard it has ripped the place to shreds, including Ramadanman down at Plastic People, it tore it off (well, that and 'WUT' from GIRL UNIT). Sonic Router officially likes it, and if you get your skanking boots on, you can't say no to it either! Out October 11th.
I'm mega hyped about this, all the way from Chicago, one of the lynchpins of the Chicago juke scene DJ Spinn is making his LDN debut at the Lock Tavern. How fast can us Londoners feet move? We'll find out! he'll be alongside the man behind Night Slugs, Bok Bok and the man behind arguably (for me) the most beautiful release of 2010 with Phoenix, the colourful Hyetal. Dubplates for days with this guy, working with the likes of Peverelist and Shortstuff. Other names on the bill include Ill Blu and Chrissy Murderbot... Watch this space, more info on the way but I can tell you it will be Sunday 31st October and it will be at the Lock Tavern, it's better than candy right?
If you're not aware of The Boiler Room, it's a real intimate set up with some of the biggest, baddest, most talented DJ's/Producers spinning an exclusive set... I'd rather you lot have butchers really, than for me to fail in telling you how good this all is. I will say that in the archives (that you can watch) there's sets from the likes of James Blake, Darkstar, Hudson Mohawke, Untold with upcoming sets from the likes of Mount Kimbie, Falty DL and Rustie. Head on over for a look!
2007 saw Commix release 'Call To Mind' on Metalheadz and now 2010 see's 'Re:Call To Mind', a star-studded remix album (yes, album). Amongst all the hype of Burial's appearance there is some warm, cold, downbeat and uplifting remixes, my favourite of which comes from a member of the HotFlush family, Sigha. He remixes Emily's Smile with an uplifting chord driven ray of sunshine (cliche?)... well, whatever the weather I bagged the album mainly for this, but the album itself is a must for any electronic music lovers.
