Mute & Mako on Mars Recordings

You ready for some old school vibes? Let's take it back to the dancefloor for a little bit with this Mute & Mako release on Mars. The term 'liquid' gets thrown around but I'm not fond of it, there's some real soul in this release. I'm a bit late with this so go cop it now.

New Troy Gunner on Mindset Records

Troy Gunner makes music for you to get lost into, this Mindset Records release is the smoothest thing I've heard in a while. There's 3 very different cuts on this release, full of lush chords and beautiful textures. Check it out for yourself.

Julio Bashmore - Riff Wrath

Julio Bashmore is closing 2011 with a Futureboogie release titled Riff Wrath. Check the clips by following the link below (courtesy of Mixmag). I've personally been waiting for the Well Wishers release for a while!

Benjamin Damage and Doc Daneeka ready 'They! Live' for 50 Weapons

I'm incredibly excited for this. After the 'Creeper' release the Modeselektor guys were so happy with the tunes they'd heard that they "brought Damage and Daneeka to Berlin, holed them up in a studio for months, and had them create a full-length album." From the clips that have been unveiled it's definitely a deeper, techno-er sound and it's very much welcome. The 9 track LP will be released on January 27, 2012. Hear 2 clips below.

We've already previews 'Shackled' on here to get everyones mouths watering for his Hotflush release, we can now let you listen to clips of the whole release. 'Feel Like' has that slight Detroit influence and 'Friends In High Places' delves a little deeper. Listen to 'em all below.

Magic Touch mix for Little White Earbuds

Like most of the dance magazines and websites and e-zines and blogs 100% Silk has been one of my favourite emerging labels this year, even though they haven't featured a lot on here (slaps wrist). But, this is a juicy mix from 100% Silk artist Magic Touch. I'll say no more, just have a listen, download it as well if you want.

Jack Dixon - Knowledge EP

Yet another gorgeous EP from Jack Dixon, expect the usual vocal manipulation and soothing beats. Coming out on Hypercolour/Glasstable sister label 'Losing Suki'. Watch this space for info.

Visionist - Vixen

Always seems to get the vibe just right, a monster with the 808. This was ripped from the Dusk & Blackdown Rinse show, no info on it just yet.

Iman - Only You (Shy One Remix)

A gorgeous track from Iman has had a percussive going over from Shy One. Expect this out on December 5th via Connect 3. Check out the original and a lot more from Iman on her Myspace (yes, people still use it). The link's below.

George Fitzgerald - Shackled

While I'm listening through the DJ-Kicks from Scuba I might as well throw in my pick of the bunch.

Addison Groove - An We Drop

I'm always on the prowl for new Addison Groove and courtesy of Scuba's DJ-Kicks we have 'An We Drop'. Enjoy.

Breach & Midland - 101

No info on this really, just a rip from a Rinse afternoon show. Good vibes though.

New Maurice Donovan

The mythical Chicago House legend is back with a one sided release.

'Call My Name' is inevitably more of the same from Maurice, which will please fans of the Babeh/Satisfied release. Stretching vocals, killer beat, bed of toms with a hint of (this guy called) Ramadanman percussion. Maybe it's just my ears. I gather it's a very limited white label release and it's available at Phonica. Follow the link to stream a sample.

ANGO - Another City Now

"Another City Now is the debut ep from ANGO aka Andrew Gordon Macpherson, the next voice hailing from Montreal, Canada on the LuckyMe label. A frequent collaborator with Jacques Greene, Lunice & NYC's Azealia Banks, now is the time for ANGO to step out."

This is has got such a warm, vintage feel to it. By like the LuckyMe guys say, it's 'yet totally modern'. Have a listen to the EP below, set for release on November 1st.

Ital Tek - War Of The Ants (Om Unit remix)

This is my pick of the Whip It Up Remix EP that was released today via the Brighton-based producers own label Atom River. Let Om Unit take you on a trip.

Mosca - The Wavey EP

Coming off the back of his Numbers release Mosca ain't wasting no time, and why should he? This 4 cut EP is set for release November 7th via Martyn's 3024 label and it's one for the drinking gang out there. Mosca has kept with the classic garage influence and pulsing low end. 'Jager' is an absolute killer.

Stream all of Rustie's 'Glass Swords' LP

He's kindly given The Guardian the exclusive, something they don't get a lot of. I digress, 'Glass Swords' is released on October 10th via Warp Records and it's simply glistening. For the record 'Cry Flames' is a personal favourite. Follow the link to stream the LP.

Drive OST

I've been banging on about this film since I saw it last week and I've been banging on equally (if not more) about the amazing soundtrack. It captures the cocaine-centric, retro vibe of the film. Seriously, go see it and these songs will find themselves on your iPod within days. Here's probably the 2 most recognizable songs from the film.

Darling Farah - Grace

On the next EP according to the man himself, lovely.

Blawan & Pariah start up new label and ready first release

Label named 'Works The Longs Nights' and first release is from Blawan & Pariah's collaborative alias Karenn. Follow the link to stream the three tracks on the release.

Addison Groove - Footcrab (DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn remix)

Quite simply, a footwork erection.

Stream all of Starkey's 'Open The Pod Bay Doors' EP

Ninja Tune have been on a bit of roll with EP's as of late and you can just add this Starkey creation to the list. This EP shows the different sides of Starkey. He'll get you amped up with 'street bass' anthems 'Blood Roses' and 'Rayguns'. Then, he'll chill you the fuck out with the futuristic title track 'Open The Pod bay Doors'. The release date is Halloween so mark it down. Follow the link to stream it all.

Numan - Secrets (Blynk Remix) - Free DL

To say thank you for the follows, the SoundCloud hits and overall support Blynk is giving away this gem! It's a remix of Numan's 'Secrets' and it's gorgeous, with the angelic pads and skippy garage vibe beat. I don't often describe a tune as 'sexy' but there you go, I said it. You know what to do for the download, up-facing arrow on the right hand side. Follow the link to the SoundCloud for the WAV file.

Washed Out - You'll See (Midland Edit)

There isn't a bad Midland edit out there, there really isn't. This is a pretty chilled piece, find a beach somewhere (or create one), bang this on and catch the sun while it's relatively out. This is 'low quality' and a free download will be available soon apparently.

Justin Berkovi - Old Timer (Jack Dixon Remix)

Forthcoming on Other Heights, 12" and digital. I hadn't done my regular SoundCloud search for a week or 2 and I came across this Jack Dixon remix that's forthcoming. Trademark everything from the London producer here. Watch this space for release details.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Garden (Hackman Remix)

Hackman has been on a high after his 'Close' release that I'm still personally battering the shit out of and with his PTN release just around the corner, he's on fire. He's also feeling generous apparently as he's given Pitchfork this bouncy remix of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs' 'Garden'. The link's below.

Well now, he's making Mickey Pearce his permanent alias as he gets ready to drop this naughty 12". ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Get’ / ‘I Am’ is expected to drop late October or early November on Swamp81. Mickey Pearce is a rascal for this one, have a listen below.

Jack Dixon & Rick Grant - Running Man EP

First off, it's been a while. I do apologize but I've just become busier with more things than I know what to do with. I thought I'd come back with this, forthcoming on George Fitzgerald's 'Man Make Music' imprint. To be honest if you're a fan of George Fitzgeralds music, you'll love Jack Dixon. As you'll probably know I'm a massive fan of Jack Dixon and this is just another EP to be added to the fast growing, glittering back catalogue of his. This one comes with Jack Dixon teaming up with one third of the TAKE Records team, it features 2 orginal cuts and a Kevin McPhee remix. Expect the usual glistening chords and sprinkle of chopped up vocals.

Modeselektor - Monkeytown

What an LP this is gonna be. It truly has me hooked without it even being released which as you can imagine is pretty frustrating. Everyone will have to wait til the 30th of September to grab ahold of this. Features vocals from Thom Yorke and Anti-Pop Consortium, amongst others. I'm still stuck on 'Blue Clouds' can't stop reloading the clip.

Slick Jagger - Finding Neptune

Little bit of shameless self promotion here, I do apologise. In the day I do PR stuff, journalism stuff, boring stuff and then at night I make wonky hip hop. Hoping to bring this out soon either with someone willing or through my own label Red Leather.

Xxxy - You Gotta Do You/Open Your Eyes

What a headfuck this release is going to be. Out on Orca Recordings soon xxxy again shows his versatility, with a Boddika type riddim, 808's and acid-ish arpeggios and a salute to jungle on the flip, that'll have you drowning in the cascading pads. Respect.

Numan - Holiday Vol. 1 (free download)

Numan doesn't stop banging 'em out, if you follow him on twitter or keep yourself updated you'll know that he's always experimenting and this little freebie EP shows just that. Be sure to big up Numan, he's too generous for his own good!

Kingdom launches new label.

Kingdom, the New Yorker responsible and probably best known for Fogs (which on a personal note has been my ringtone for about a year..) has started up his label. He's always been a busy guy, releases all over the place, two of his club nights and now his own label Fade To Mind. The first release is from fellow New Yorkers Nzuguzunguzu with 3 original tracks and 2 remixes from Total Freedom and Kingdom himself.

Damu - Mermaid

Out on Local Action in July, catch it on digital or vinyl. Colourful vibes, rainbow riddim!

Damu - Mermaid (clip) by Local Action Records

Introducing: Tanka

With cuts dripping in 808 percussion, subtle melodies, good use of vocals and pounding beats I just had to introduce (some of) you to Francis Leigh from Winchester, aka Tanka. Have a butchers at just a couple of these, be sure to scan through the whole soundcloud.

Deadboy - Afrika Starr

In anticipation of Deadboy playing Sonar, he's given away this colourful little ditty. Big ups to Dummy!

Link: Deadboy - Afrika Starr (via Dummy)

What have I missed!!??

Bloody hell! I was at war with Apple about controlling my data, the data they said they'd have to delete to replace my hard drive. Anyway, I'm back and what have I missed?? Joker's back with The Vision. Jamie xx's eagerly anticipated Numbers release has finally surfaced, with 'Beat For' massive on the flip. The Maurice Donovan release I was waiting for came out, happy about that. Africa Hitech and Hyetal with their albums, both so individual in their own rights. New Bok Bok, Sigha, Machinedrum and Deadboy releases will be getting mega plays. Lastly, Through Motion came out and Midland gives me chills with that bassline.

So, I know some of these have been out for a while, but I lost my Mac in April, I have been severely deprived!

Now I'm ready to push with Red Leather, the label. Demo's are welcome!

Teeth - Shawty/Shawty (FaltyDL Remix)

Forthcoming on Oneman's 502 imprint. The original has been getting massive support from the top tier DJ's while FaltyDL on the flips throws the script out the window with some "future blues".

Monday, 4 April 2011

Starkey - Sunshine

Forthcoming Civil Music, on Space Traitor Vol. 2. Starkey brings nothing but the heat and it's all reaching the surface on Jun 6th. I love the artwork as well.

Julio Bashmore - Father Father

There's a clip of Father Father from the EP of the same name over on SlothBoogie. It features Javeon McCarthey laying down some vocals with Craboon on the flip to it. Out in April.

Recommended: Knowing Looks - Last Kiss At The Plains Hotel

Nothing about Mothers today, but if you need something to cheer yourself up, you know because of the fact you gotta go work tomorrow, I really do recommend this bouncy garage house number, I can't help but think of Todd Edwards. out on WNCL Recordings, the flip is well worth a listen as well!
